Hi

I’m Dan and I’m the President of Hornsby

South Public School

P and C Committee. One of the great parts

about being on the P and C

has been the opportunity to connect with

our school staff

led by Sharon Hewitt our Principal. It's

been wonderful to be able to collaborate

on things like

our band that we run

in the afternoons. It's also been great

to collaborate

and be part of the Twilight Concert that

we run every couple of years where we

bring

all of the school community together.

It's been great to see

our multicultural and diverse school

community

come together and put on a great local

community event

participated by the whole school

with all of the different communities

bringing their

individual flair to each of those

outlets and that can be everything from

the great Indian dances that we have at

the

the Twilight Festival but also our

school's

dance group that come along and our band

that play at that event.

What a wonderful way to connect with our

local community.

Hello my name is Tara and I volunteer

with the Hornsby South Public School

Parents Committee what I love about

volunteering is that it gives me a

chance to connect with

the teaching staff and the school staff

in a really meaningful way.

It means that I can grow deeper

connections with the teachers that my

children

are taught by and the teaching staff

that I may not experience

on a on a day-to-day basis. What I love

most about volunteering at Hornsby South

Public School

is that my kids see me investing time

in their education and it doesn't have

to be a lot of time,

it can be five minutes here, it can be

ten minutes there but

they see me engaging with the teaching

staff,

engaging with the wider community and I

think it sets the example that a school

is a place that

everyone can belong and that everybody

has

a part in. It really makes the school

feel like a community,

not just about kids turning up and

learning every day and then going home.

Respectful, Responsible and Aspire.

When someone's being respectful it means that

they're listening to the teacher,

they're being polite to other people and

they're respecting other people's

needs and decisions. Being respectful is

listening to the teacher. It's important

to be respectful

because you're a role model to

younger kids. We have to be responsible

so other people can follow you and be

responsible as well.

Being responsible means you can look

after yourself.

If you don't choose the

right choices

you can end up somewhere you don't want

to be so it's really important

to be responsible. Aspire is trying your

best.

It is stepping out of your comfort zone

and reaching for your dreams

Aspiring

is to try your hardest in all learning times.

I try to do my

best

and try to do what I don't

know I can do.
