Community

Hornsby South Public School has an active community including P&C, Before and After School Care, Canteen, Uniform Shop.

P&C

The P&C at Hornsby South Public School plays an integral role in our school community.  We organise various community events and fundraising activities for the school community, like the School Disco and Twilight Concert.  The proceeds from these events and activities all go directly toward improving and supporting our school.  We consult with both the school and the school community to decide where this support is most needed.

The P&C also manages a number of the facilities and services available to our school community, including:

  • The Snack Shack (our School Canteen)
  • Uniform Shop
  • Before and After School Care (including Vacation care)
  • School Band

The P&C employ paid staff and casuals to operate Before and After School Care, and we employ a Canteen manager who coordinates a team of volunteers to run our Canteen. Our Uniform Shop and School Band are run by volunteer parents. All of these facilities are overseen by committees of volunteer parents to ensure the services meet the needs of the school community and our families and children. Funds raised in the provision of these services also go directly toward improving and supporting our school.

Hornsby South Public School has always had a very strong school community. The efforts of the P&C and our school community have enabled us to introduce our School Band, build the Yurt that houses Before and After School Care and implement the online technology that runs our School Canteen and Uniform Shop. We have also been able to donate air conditioning to the school library and many classrooms, and there are plans for an extension to Yurt.

P&C meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month (except during school holidays) at 8.00pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and participate. We also welcome all comments, suggestions and feedback.
