Welcome to the Library!
The library at Hornsby South is an exciting and busy place, connecting students to quality literature and resources. Our wonderful librarians this year are Mrs Gilfillan (Monday- Wednesday) and Mrs Payne (Thursday and Friday).
The library program aims to promote a love of literature and reading and to develop a community of critical thinkers who can use the Information Skills Process of Defining, Locating, Selecting, Organising, Presenting and Assessing effectively. Students must bring a library bag along if they would like to borrow a book during their library session.
The library is also a wonderful place for students to meet their friends during lunchtime. From Monday to Thursday, Students can return and borrow books , quietly read under the library tree, play board games or play on the Lego wall.
Our teacher librarians will also be organising the Book Fair and Children’s Book Week activities, so keep an eye out for these special events!
Premier's Reading Challenge
Hornsby South Public School encourages students from K-6 to participate in the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC). Our aim is to foster a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature.

Book club
Book Club gives parents and children a convenient way to purchase affordable, age-appropriate books to bridge the class-to-home reading connection and keep the reading momentum rolling in our school. Each Book Club purchase enables the library to fundraise by accruing rewards points that are often used to acquire new resources for our school library.
